-Autumn, Bennish, Mary and Quinn had checked into a room at the Dominion. Quinn and the others had barely settled in when Quinn jumped up and spoke, "I'm going to get some parts." "I'll go with you," Autumn said. "No. I'll get them myself." Quinn walked out of the room and slammed the door. Autumn turned to Bennish and spoke, "What's his problem? " Mary spoke, "He didn't tell you?" "What?" Autumn replied. "About his missing wife and friends," Mary replied. "He told me, but that doesn't explain his behavior. My brother has never been anything like that. He seems so withdrawn." "He is," Bennish replied, "That's why we followed him. He can't be out here alone. He needs us." "Autumn, what's your story. How did you become a slider?" "Well, it's like this."
-The Mallory home, two months earlier. Autumn Mallory walked down the steps to the basement. Quinn Mallory was fiddling with what appeared to be a cell phone. "Quinn." He turned around and spoke, "Hey sis! When did you get in?" "Just about an hour ago. Mom and Dad send their love. Daelin wanted me to tell you that dinner's almost ready." "Thanks. Want to see something interesting?" Autumn replied, "What now Quinn? Did you finally perfect that antigravity machine you've been working on off and on for five years?" Quinn raised an eyebrow and spoke, "Better." He turned a dial on the cell phone and a green vortex appeared in mid-air. Autumn's eyes grew wide. "What is it?" Quinn smiled, "It's a doorway to another universe." "You've crossed the Einstein-Rosen-Podolsky bridge?" "That's my little sis. Yes, I did. Twenty minutes ago I was on another Earth." Quinn closed the vortex. "So when do I get to take my trip?" Autumn asked. "Hold on sis. I've got a few bugs to work out of the system before anyone takes it anywhere. See this?" "It's a cell phone." "No, it was a cell phone. Now it's a timer device. It controls how long you remain on what ever world you've gone to." "Ahem." Quinn and Autumn turned around to see Daelin Mallory standing behind them. "Dinner is ready you guys, so get up here." 'Yes dear," Quinn said in a slightly humorous tone.
-It was late at night or early in the morning when Autumn Mallory made her way down to the basement. She picked up the timer and spoke, "A quick trip. Quinn will never know. I set it for fifteen minutes and be back before he even knows I'm gone." Autumn turned the dial and the green vortex opened. She jumped in and "slid" through the dimensional tunnel. The light at the end of the tunnel grew closer and Autumn was thrown out of the tunnel. "What a ride!" She screamed. Autumn looked around and noticed she was in a forest. There were no houses or buildings or anything, but Autumn heard a loud thunderous noise. She didn't like that. The noise grew louder. Autumn turned around and saw a Tyrannosaurus Rex coming towards her. She broke into a run but the dinosaur was gaining on her. It was almost right on her when she had an idea. She pulled the timer out of her pocket and fiddled with the dial. The vortex opened and she jumped in.
-Autumn found herself deposited outside of the house. "Why did I land outside of the house instead of in the basement?" she asked herself. Figuring it probably had something to do with messing with the controls. She walked to the porch and started to look for the spare key so she could get in. The key was nowhere to be found. Could Quinn and Daelin have moved it while she'd been back east visiting her parents? The doorknob began to turn and the door opened. Autumn began to speak, "Sorry Quinn I-" She looked at the person standing in front of her. She had never seen him before in her life. "Would you care to explain why you're on my porch at this early hour?" It suddenly clicked. She wasn't home. Autumn turned and ran as fast and as far as she could. She pulled the timer from her pocket. It was counting down from two hours. She tried to open a gateway but it wouldn't work. She knew it would be two hours before she could open a gateway and hopefully go home.
-"And you've been sliding ever since?" Mary asked. "Yes. I figured out that I'd corrupted the timer and lost my home coordinates. When I encountered Quinn, he promised me if I helped him find his wife and friends he'd get me back home." Bennish looked at Mary and raised an eyebrow. Bennish spoke, "Do you mind if I take a look at your timer?" Autumn handed Bennish the timer. He took the back off of it and began to look at the inner workings. Quinn walked in the door with a bag of electronic parts. Bennish spoke, "Quinn can I talk to you for a minute?" Quinn replied, "What?" " I think we should discuss this privately." "Fine. In here," Quinn replied. Bennish and Quinn walked into the other room. Quinn spoke, "What is it?" Bennish replied, "You promised her you'd get her home." "Yeah, I did." "Quinn, we both know in your current state you won't be able to live up to that promise." "She doesn't have to know that, yet." Bennish became angry, "Listen to yourself, man! You're better than this Quinn." Quinn gave Bennish a smug look. Bennish spoke, "Have you even looked at her timer?" "No," Quinn replied. "One, it's almost fried. She seems pretty sharp about this stuff so with her help I might be able to fix it, but here's the kicker, Quinn. It can't track wormholes or store coordinates." "So we upgrade it. Surely you remember how." 'You're not listening to me Quinn. Your double may have built this, but the tech is way different than anything me or you or even the maggs ever put together." Quinn was angry, "What are you saying, Bennish?" "I'm saying, we're lost. I can't upgrade this timer. Hell, if it burns out, I may not even be able to fix it. "
-Another of countless parallel Earths, a green vortex opens and Quinn Mallory and Conrad Bennish Jr. are thrown from it. Quinn picks up the timer and speaks, "She was here, but her trail is gone. I'll try to get a lock and then we'll slide back home. See if we can't get a better lock on her coordinates." Quinn dropped his head. Bennish spoke, "We'll find her Quinn, don't worry." "I know. Hold tight Autumn, we're coming for you."
-Yet another parallel Earth. A strange distortion appeared and suddenly Wade, Rembrandt and Arturo were standing in the middle of a park. "It worked!" Rembrandt said. "Is it home?" Wade asked. "I don't believe so, unless that's new." The three look up to see the Statue of Liberty in the middle of San Francisco Bay. Wade slowly dropped to the ground. "Wade! What's wrong?" Remmy asked. Arturo spoke, "I thinks she's having another of those spells she has been having." "I'm fine, guys. Just feel a little sick . . ." Wade passed out as soon as she finished her sentence. "Quickly Rembrandt! We have to get her to a hospital!"
-Earth-Alpha. "Where are they!" Cyrus screamed. Nimbus replied, "Cyrus old chum, now why do you assume I would know?" "I know you stole the trans-dislocation device from the guard and I know you disabled the tracking feature, but where did you send them?" Nimbus was quiet. Cyrus punched him in the stomach. "Answer me!" Nimbus slowly began to fade from view. "NO!" Cyrus screamed. And with those words Nimbus had vanished.
-Nimbus reappeared in the med-lab of what he recognized as a Traveller unit. A young man probably about 22 approached him. "Sorry it took so long." "It is good to se you again, Summers," Nimbus said. 'Please Nimbus, call me Andrew. I assume my debt is repaid?" "Of course," Nimbus replied. "So where to now?" "Earth-Delta-Epsilon 4. We have plans to make." "DALIUS, activate distortion field and begin jump to Earth designate Delta-Epsilon 4. It appears we've got a rebellion to start."
