The Season Five premiere showed evidence of a return to the show's roots this season, despite the absence of actor Jerry O'Connell (Quinn). Not only did the film quality and camera work improve from that of the previous season, but Wade, the Professor, and Rembrandt's Cadillac got a mention, and with more emotion than O'Connell showed in all of Season Four. Although some fans bailed right away, it is too soon to know what the quality of the season will be like. But the early opinions have been mainly positive.
New additions to the regular cast included Robert Floyd (Mallory) and Tembi Locke (Diana Davis).
