Bridger's Timer
You may have noticed that my name (Sliding Captain Bridger) is not totally Sliders-dedicated. To those of you who are familiar with the show, Captain Bridger is of course a reference to Captain Nathan Bridger on seaQuest DSV (the one show I love more than Sliders). While I was chatting tonight, some guy brought up the fact that Cpt_Bridger was in my name. This is where I came up with the idea of "Bridger's timer".Throughout the series, Sliders has had quite a few unique timers...and they all seemed to belong to somebody, and were made out of different things. Quinn's timer was made from a phone. Logan's timer was made from a VCR remote. Rickman's timer was made from a Sega Genesis controller. Bridger's timer was made from Darwin's vocorder. Here's the story... Sometime during the first season (of sQ), the seaQuest docks in California. The crew gets shore a week's shore leave. During that time, Lucas chooses to stay onboard and perfect the vocorder system that allows Darwin, the dolphin, to speak. Captain Bridger comes in a day later and tells Lucas to get some rest. Lucas joins Krieg, O'Neill, and Ortiz as they go bar hopping. Lucas gets to go with them because he fashioned a fake ID with the computer. Captain Bridger is playing with Darwin on SeaDeck, when a vortex opens up directly over the moon pool. Captain Bridger looks at the vortex as a single figure comes flying out. It's Bennish! As he gets out of the moon pool, Bridger questions him about where he came from and what it was he came out of. Bennish tells him the truth, followed by a really loud "DUDE!!" as he remembers he's all wet. He pulls out his timer, and it's soaked. "Bummer..." he says. Then he sees Darwin and the vocorder. He asks Captain Bridger if he could use the vocorder for a while, and Bridger says yes. Bridger leaves for a little while, and when he comes back, he learns that Bennish found Lucas' room, and borrowed some of Lucas' "new" rock and roll. He also learns that Bennish has taken the vocorder apart, and has made a new timer out of it. This makes Captain Bridger mad, so he calls Chief Crocker and has Bennish thrown in the brig. As Captain Bridger looks at what Bennish has done with the vocorder, he sees that Bennish had added some new buttons and dials, as well as a red, flashing counter. It was counting down to something... Bridger called out the numbers. "3..." "2..." "1..." and then a vortex opened up. Bennish had successfully made a new timer using the vocorder, and Captain Bridger was pulled in. That is where we get "Sliding Captain Bridger". But what about Lucas? Well, when Lucas got back, he was really pissed about Bennish screwing around with the vocorder, but they became fast friends. They played lots of loud music, and drove the crew of seaQuest crazy.
THE END
Wow.......what a spectacular waste of time! Is it fanfic? You be the judge....I was bored. Take care and keep sliding with the crew of seaQuest....er....the Sliders!Sliding Captain Bridger
