Wade was just walking out of the hotel. There was so much on her mind.
She didn't know what to make of Xander's behavior. Deep in her heart
she
knew it wasn't him, but for some odd reason she kept herself in denial.
So much had gone wrong for so long and just now in the last few months
they
were going right again. It just wouldn't be fair if they turned bad
all
over again. She felt like crying, she felt like screaming,
she was complete
confused. She had to take a walk, just get her head straightened. It
was
the perfect day for it. The sky was blue, not a cloud in sight, and
it was
warm, not to hot. She walked for blocks, just thinking about how her
life
went from normal, to beyond bizarre.
Slowly Arturo got to his feet. He stared the Sith right in the eyes.
There was no fear in either man's eyes instead extreme anger.
" If you think you can take me Max, give it your best shot." Darth
Caine
antagonized. Arturo's fists were clenched. But he knew he was no match
for
this killing machine. " Come on old man…Hit me!" He shouted.
"Go…To...Hell!" Arturo yelled. Darth Caine was infuriated. It would
only take three seconds to kill him, but the Sith held back his erg.
He
needed Arturo alive. He was the best chance of finding the other two
sliders. Arturo knew this that is mainly what inspired his courage.
Wade's walk had taken her to a church that was near the area she grew
up in
on her world. It wasn't like she was overly religious. It just seemed
like
the right place to go to. There was something going on that day, from
the
looks of it a wedding. She was curious, and wanted to see who it was.
It
felt like she was here at this time for a reason. And right through the
church doors was the answer. Quietly she entered, and took a seat in
the
back. There was only about a dozen people in there. She sat alone
and
began to watch the ceremony. The bride was just being walked down the
isle.
Instantly she was in shock.
It was Max Arturo walking the bride down the isle. When she looked
up to
see the groom. It was Quinn Mallory. And of course the best man was
none
other than the Cryin' Man himself, Rembrandt Brown. She began to smile,
as
tears went trickling down her cheeks. It was like she had just walked
into
her greatest dream. Could it be on this world the four were together,
and
she was marrying Quinn? She looked around at the people who were there
to
watch. She didn't recognize any of them, and she was surprised at the
small
turn out. The people didn't even seem to really care that a wedding
was
going on at all. Quinn stared down the isle at his bride to be. But
slowly
his attention was taken off of her, and he looked a little bit to right.
There was a sudden look of shock on his face.
"Wade!" He shouted. Suddenly Rembrandt looked over, as did Max Arturo.
The
bride remained facing the altar. Stupid! She thought to herself. She
then
felt this was the dumbest thing she could have done. Quinn went running
down the isle, Arturo and Rembrandt followed. All the guests turned
and
looked." My god, is it really you?" He asked excitedly. She didn't
know how
to answer him. The trio of men seemed so happy. Quinn grabbed a hold
of
her and started to hug her. " I'm never letting go Wade, you hear me,
never
again!" He said as he embraced her.
"Calm down Quinn, this might not even be our Wade." Rembrandt said.
Wade
was in tears, even though it wasn't her Quinn. It was still a Quinn
Mallory. Slowly Quinn loosened his hold of her. The bride came slowly
walking back down the isle.
"Quinn… Rembrandt is right, this might not be our Wade." Arturo said
the
crushing blow to his former student. The bride had gotten to the small
group. She removed her vale, and it revealed her to be Maggie Beckett.
Wade's happy dream was a nightmare. Quinn was getting married to Maggie
of
all people. Maggie was anything but thrilled to see her rival, Wade
received a dirty look from her. The other people watched on in suspense
"Look I'm sorry, I didn't mean to ruin your wedding." She said to Quinn.
"
But I'm not your Wade." She said. Quinn took it very badly, and started
getting a bit depressed. The others were silent.
" Well fine then, just leave!" Maggie rudely said. Wade was angered
by the
remark, but she was right, she didn't belong there.
"Maggie!" Quinn barked. The other two men looked to Maggie with disgust.
Her comment was rude and not called for.
"Be silent Maggie, that is no way to talk to a guest!" Arturo said.
"Who are you? I mean how did you get here? Are you a slider?" Rembrandt
asked curiously. Wade looked around at the three men. It was like a
weird
homecoming. Where could she possibly begin? So she started to tell
them
everything.
Back at the hotel Arturo lay on the floor, blood trickled from his nose.
He wasn't dead, just unconscious. Darth Caine picked up Xander's light
saber off the coffee table.
" Very well Max, the woman dies." He said coldly as he went walking
out of
the hotel room. He was now on his way to kill Wade.
Kromagg Sliders prison world sometime earlier…
"Bennish, you ready?" Xander asked his friend. Both men were standing
up
standing in front of the invisible wall of their cells.
" Let's do it, to it!" Bennish answered his friend. Xander closed his
eyes
and began to focus. He raised his hands shoulder height and was using
the
force to do something.
Slider prison control room.
"Something is happening in the room of prisoner # 55." An officer informed
his superior. Quickly the superior came up and looked in to his screen.
He
watched Xander holding his hands up shoulder height. He was definitely
doing something.
"Prisoner#55, stop at once." He said into the intercom.
The warning went over the loud speaker near the cells. Xander paid no
attention to it. Enthusiastically Bennish watched on.
"Stop at once!" The voice repeated. " Get some armed guards down there,
Now! He shouted to his underling. But it was too late. All the power
in
the entire complex went out. Xander had used the force to turn off
the main
generator of the entire building.
" Sir, we lost all power!" The officer said.
"What about back up systems?" He asked.
" All power sir!" He told him. Quietly you could hear the sounds of
random
laser blasts being fired. The halls had turned into a small battlefield.
The only light was from the panic stricken guards firing at Xander.
Bennish
sat back and watched the strobe light battle go on. Even without a
weapon
Xander was still a great fighter. Bennish obtained a laser gun, but
he
would wait until it was needed. The battle had taken them to the weapon
storage area.
It was so dark in the control room that the Kromagg's couldn't see
the
expressions of fear on each other's disfigured faces. It must have
been
thirty minutes later when the blasts were right out side the door.
As a
matter of fact the blasts were being fired at the door.
" Get ready men!" The superior ordered his men. They all aimed their
weapons at the source of the sound. It was then that a glowing red
blade
came piercing through the metal doors. Xander was cutting through with
Darth
Caine's light saber. When they had raided the storage room, Xander
had
found the Sith Lords weapon. Instantly the Kromagg officers threw down
their weapons. The superior heard the sounds of dropping weapons hit
the
floor. He took the cue from has men and did the same thing. He knew
just
as well as they did. They could not defeat the Jedi Knight.
Xander had completely cut through the door. Xander's face was all red
because of the glow from the light saber. Standing in the doorway Xander
began to focus the force again. The power suddenly came on.
" Don't even move!" Bennish yelled arrogantly. Xander looked over to
his
friend and nodded. Bennish pointed his laser gun at one of the computer
operators. Quickly Bennish was telling him to program certain coordinates
in the main sliding computer.
Bennish turned his attention away from the computer and looked over
to a
guard standing in the corner. "Dude!" He shouted. The guard turned
his face
away trying to hide it, but he was too late.
"What is it?" Xander asked.
"It's the butt whip that shaved my head. Man your ass is grass!" He
said.
Xander looked over at the guard. While the men were still trapped in
there
cells Bennish told Xander why he had a shaved head. When he was taken
prisoner it was on a world where woman had facial hair, and at first
Bennish
was mistaken for a female. It wasn't until they tried to breed with
Xander
that they found out that he was really an inter-dimensional traveler.
"I'll
get back to you man!" Bennish threatened. He then looked back down
to the
computer.
" Will you kill us?" The superior asked Xander. Xander ignored him.
"Ready boss." Bennish said.
"Do it." Xander told him. Bennish pressed the laser gun into the back
of
the operator.
"Hit the self destruction button, now!" Bennish ordered. The officer
looked over to his superior for the O.K. " Hey stupid, don't look at
him,
your gonna listen to the guy with the gun now!" Bennish barked. He
looked
over to Xander and smiled. Bennish was enjoying the moment.
"This complex will self detonate in tee minus 5 minutes." The computer
voice said over the intercom. All throughout out the building the Kromagg
soldier's were entering the emergency sliding vortexes.
"It's working, they're leaving." Bennish said happily.
"Where are you sending my men?" The superior asked. Bennish smiled,
and
kept the answer to himself. Xander to then began to think about it.
"Bennish, where are you sending them?" He asked. Bennish looked over
to
Xander and was having trouble keeping a straight face.
" Well, have you ever seen that movie Night of the Living Dead?" He
asked
his Jedi Friend. Xander had a somewhat puzzled look on his face. But
the
words "living dead" however was enough to clue in that where these
Kromagg's
were going to a very unpleasant place.
"3 minutes until detonation." The computer voice informed.
"Well that's it, the only one's left are the ones in here, and of
course
the prisoners." Bennish informed him.
"Your turn." Xander ordered the remaining Kromagg's. " Except for
you."
Xander pointed to the computer operator. The control room vortex was
activated.
"Hold it!" Bennish shouted. He walked up the guard who shaved his head.
Bennish made a fist and punched him right square in the nose. The guard
didn't even flinch. "Now you can go." He ordered. The remaining Kromaggs
left through it with a minimum of fuss. "Now deactivate the self
detonation." The operator did as he was told. "Get all the prisoners
together, we're getting them out of here."
Back at the church Wade had just finished telling her tale to her new
friends. "So that's the whole story, and now were not even sure if
Xander's
the real one or not." She finished.
"Maybe we can help out in some way." Quinn said. "What if we
can set up
some sort of distraction that would get this impostor out of the hotel
and
get us to Arturo." Quinn suggested.
"I can't ask you to do that." Wade said. She couldn't dare risk anything
bad happening to Quinn or the other's. Well maybe Maggie, but not the
other's.
" What a novel idea, sounds like a great plan to me." Darth Caine said
clapping his hands. He was standing right in the doorway of the church.
"
But I'm afraid the games over Wade, so how about I just kill you."
He
grinned evilly. " As for the rest of you people…Piss off!" The guests
wasted
no time leaving.
"If you want to kill Wade, you'll have to get throw us first!" Rembrandt
stood forward. Arturo and Quinn stood by his side. The men had formed
a
wall in front of Wade. Rembrandt was always like Wade's protector,
and even
though it wasn't his Wade it was no different. It didn't matter that
she
didn't come from the same Earth, she was just like his Wade in every
way.
"Oh no! not that!" Darth Caine laughed.
"Guys, don't. He killed a man three times you size on the last world
we
were on." Wade warned.
"You know I just had another great idea. I think I'll kill you all
anyway. I'm sure I can pawn off this Quinn for the one that Kromagg's
are
looking for. Then I could go home!" There then was a click of a revolver,
Darth Caine turned and looked.
Kromagg prison world…
"You're sure this will work?" Xander asked Bennish.
"No problem, you see you counterpart is fixed with a tracking device.
I
already have him set into this sliding devise. All I have to do is
press
this button, and Poof, we're there." He said holding up the sliding
device.
The two just finished going through the Kromagg sliding lab. They could
now slide whenever they wanted. With the aid of their prisoner they
had
found their way to track Darth Caine.
" We'll press it already!" Xander ordered.
Back at the church…
Darth Caine looked down the barrel of the revolver (our) Max Arturo
had
pointed at his head.
"I'm ending this right now!" (Our) Arturo shouted. Darth Caine held
out his
arms ready to embrace the bullet.
"Bring it on! Fat boy!" He yelled. The trigger was pulled and the hammer
clicked, then the bang had come a fraction of a second later. The bullet
went screaming towards Darth Caine almost in slow motion. Quickly he
grabbed Xander's light saber and activated the green blade. The bullet
was
not fast enough. He had blocked it. The bullet melted the second it
made
contact to the light saber. " Games over!" He shouted. He raised the
light
saber and went to strike. Suddenly there was a great gust of wind.
A red
sliding vortex had opened. Catapulting out was Xander Caine the Jedi
Knight. Xander landed perfectly on his feet. Darth Caine froze as he
saw
his double. Then Conrad Bennish Jr. came flying out next. His landing
was
anything but graceful. He crashed head on with (our) Max Arturo. Arturo
was knocked to the floor. He then looked up and found Bennish right
on top
of him. It did not take long for him recognize him.
"Bennish! Bennish! Bennish!" He began to yell. Bennish's reaction was
just
the opposite. He hugged his former Professor.
" Max! I'm so happy to see you!" He said over happily.
" Come to save the day." Darth Caine said to Xander. " Well I don't
think
so!" He yelled as the swung the green blade. It clashed with the red
one.
The other sliders quickly picked up Arturo and Bennish and pulled them
off
to safety.
"Some god dam wedding!" Maggie blurted out. At the same time everyone
in
the group said.
"Shut up Maggie!" And she did so. The Sith was attacking fiercely his
temper was a rage of fire. Calmly Xander defended himself. The other's
watched on. Bennish was cheering on Xander.
"Kick his ass!" He shouted raising his hands in the air. There was
no doubt
that Xander was controlling this fight. Darth Caine then did a leg
sweep
and caught Xander off guard. Xander's fall backwards turned in to a
back
flip as he balanced it out in time to block another attack. The Jedi
was in
his best form. It was like his entire life had built up to this one
time,
this one moment. Both men were flipping through the air, they were two
daredevil acrobats. The fight was taken right out the front doors and
in
to the street. The two locked sabers again. They both tried to over
power
the other. It was a fight between good and evil. Darth Caine then caught
Xander with a kick to his chest. The Jedi went flying back, his back
smacked against a car. Darth Caine leaped threw the air with his saber
held
up high ready to strike. Xander just barley dodged it. The light saber
chopped the front of the car right in half. They were now exchanging
blows.
Suddenly due to a poor block by Xander the light saber was knocked
out of
his hand. But lucky for him the green blade had missed his hand by
inches.
"The game's over Xander, you lose!" Darth Caine yelled in triumph.
He
raised the light saber to strike down his final blow. Xander stood
still.
"No!" Wade screamed. The blade went swinging down.
"Mab," Xander said in a perfect calm voice. Inches away from his face
the
blade of the light saber was deactivated. Darth Caine was puzzled by
the
act.
"What the hell?" He shouted.
"Apparently you're not familiar with that option. If your weapon is
lost in
combat, all you have to say is a password, and your voice will render it useless."
Xander said smiling. Darth Caine grew even angrier.
"Cheater!" He scolded. He then threw away the useless weapon away.
But in
the flash of an eye he commanded his own weapon to him. The weapon
was now
back in it's master's hand.
"Excaliber," Xander said. Darth Caine spun around. The red blade extended
ready to strike. But he was too late. Xander had reactivated his weapon.
And in that instant he blocked it.
"Whoa!" Bennish said in amazement. " Never saw them do that in Star
Wars."
He whispered to (our) Arturo. Arturo sighed at the comment. The other's
wanted to help, but all they could do was watch. Once again the two
were at
it. Bennish looked down at his sliding device, then back up to the
fight.
One more time looked down at the sliding device. An idea was forming.
He
began to punch in coordinates. Once finished he looked back up to the
fight. He then activated the sliding devise. There was a gust of wind
and a
large vortex opened right behind Darth Caine. He glanced over to look,
but
even the quickest glance was too long to take off the Jedi. Xander
planted
his foot right in to the chest of the Sith Lord knocking him into the
vortex.
"No!" Darth Caine shouted as he was being sucked in. He took one last
shot
at killing Xander. He flung his light saber at him. The menacing blade
went flying towards Xander. The last thing Darth Caine saw was Xander
catching his light saber in his left hand. "Nooo!" He screamed. His
attempt had failed. He was now gone, sucked in by the vortex. The vortex
closed behind him.
"Bennish, where did you send him?" (The other) Arturo asked. " You
can't
possible allow him to reek havoc on a poor unsuspecting world." He
finished.
Xander went walking over to the group and looked at Bennish.
"Night of the Living Dead?" He asked. Bennish smiled and held up his
hand.
Xander gave him the high five he was looking for.
"Well done." He said.
Darth Caine had landed on his back, and broken his arm on impact. Slowly
he
got to his feet.
"No, they cheated, god dammit!" He was cursing to himself certain four
letter words. Suddenly he'd stopped to listen, he could hear strange
moans
coming from all around him. And there was a horrible stench in the
air. It
smelled like something had died. He began to look around. It was the
most
horrific sight he'd ever seen. Legions of the walking dead were approaching
him. In a panic he reached for his light saber. But then he remembered
he
had thrown it at Xander just before the slide.
"NOOOO!" He screamed as the creatures were getting closer. We now
fade
out.
"Well what happens now?" Quinn asked. Wade looked over to him and smiled,
and he looked to her.
"Well what a mess this is." (The other) Arturo said.
"Not really." (Our) Arturo said.
"Well what is going to happen now?" Rembrandt asked.
"I could give a rat's ass." Maggie mumbled. Xander and Bennish watched
on
in silence waiting for the finial out come.
"Look Wade, I've already lost you once, I don't want to lose you again."
Quinn said to Wade. " Stay here with me, we could try to rebuild our
lives."
He pleaded.
"Oh great!" Maggie shouted. " I was just about to get married, I knew
you
were still in love with her! And I was willing to except that! Because
I
never thought we'd see any Wade again, we hadn't seen one up till now
any
way!" Maggie went on in her rant.
" Maggie will you shut the hell up!" Rembrandt requested loudly.
" Well Wade, will you stay with me?" Quinn asked. The offer was a good
one,
and it did male sense, both did have deep feelings for each other.
Wade
gave him a big hug, he her hugged back. Their hug then turned in to
a kiss.
Xander smiled at the display, but he was still a bit saddened by it.
He
also was in love with her. But deep in his heart he knew all she wanted
was
Quinn. (Our) Arturo put his hand on Xander's shoulder. The two looked
in
to each other's eyes. (Our) Arturo could see the hidden sadness in
Xander's
eyes.
"I'm sorry friend." He said softly. Xander nodded his head in expectancy.
He then looked over to Bennish. He too was upset that Wade had chosen
Quinn. Or as Bennish would put it, he was really bummed out.
"Well I think it's about time we got this show on the road." Bennish
said.
"Ready?" he asked.
"Oh god, we're going sliding with Bennish, now there's an unpleasant
thought, well let's go." (Our) Arturo said sarcastically. Xander took
one
last look over at Wade. She was finished kissing Quinn and was looking
at
him. He gave her a warm smile. He had done what he promised, she was
now
with Quinn.
"Quinn, I really hope you find your Wade." Wade said as she turned
to look
at Quinn. He was puzzled by what she said to him. " My place is with
my
friends, there my family." She then said. Quinn wasn't to overly pleased
by
her choice, but he did understand. It wasn't even his Wade.
"Well wait, can we go with you?" Rembrandt asked.
"Why?" (Our) Arturo asked.
"Well you see my friend." (The other) Arturo began to say. " Well our
timer shorted out when we got here, and well we've been stuck ever
since."
He finished.
"Oh, well in that case take this." Our Arturo reached into his coat
pocket
and pulled out his timer. He handed it to the other Arturo. He looked
down
in amazement.
"Yeah, don't worry -- we've got this." Bennish said holding up his sliding
device. The two groups said their good byes and wished each other luck.
Quinn and Wade gave each other one finial look before going there separate
was. The four went back inside of the church. Bennish held up the sliding
device and activated the vortex. It was windy and the loud roar of
the
vortex was a loud.
"Xander." Arturo shouted. Xander looked over to him. "It's good to
have
you back!" He said. Xander smiled to his friend. Wade then grabbed
a hold
of Xander's hand. The two looked in to each other's eyes as they jumped
through. " Bennish!" Arturo yelled. Bennish looked over to Arturo ready
to
receive his compliment. " I still hate you!" Arturo shouted with a
smile.
Bennish smiled back. The two made the leap for the vortex. But something
went wrong, as they leaped the vortex had closed.
"Oh crap!" Bennish yelled. They both fell flat on their faces.
"Bennish you blistering idiot! What happened?" Arturo asked angrily.
"I don't know?" He said. He then reactivated the sliding devise. The
buttons were flashing out of control. " I can't guarantee we'll end
up
where they are." He told Arturo. A new vortex had opened. Both men
dived
through anyway in hopes that they would end up with their friends. But
they
didn't.
They both came spitting out of the vortex, and like always crashing
onto
the ground. Arturo got to his feet and looked around. Bennish did the
same. But there was no sign of Wade, or Xander in sight.
" Now what?" Bennish asked. Arturo looked over to Bennish.
"Well I wouldn't worry about them, I'm sure where ever they are…they're
going to be just fine." He said. In a way it was kind of a strange
blessing, they were never really happy jumping from one world to the
next.
Arturo was a little sad that his friends were gone. And he wasn't sure
if
he'd ever see them again. But he knew that as long as they were together,
they would always be just fine. We now fade out.
The End.
