Part One
A large noisy crowd filled the streets of San Francisco, running
in a
panic to anyplace they felt safe. Cars rammed into fire hydrants
and
other vehicles, as drivers quickly abandoned them, anxiously fleeing.
Bolts of electricity snapped from a malevolent figure as the being
stepped through the chaos. He was clothed in a bright blue
suit, which
glistened when it caught the sunlight. A mask of the same
color
sheltered his face, and yellow oculus lenses covered his eyes.
"No one can stop the Eradicator!" the figure bellowed as he
pointed to
one of the many deserted automobiles. Electricity crackled
from his
hands, thrashing into the car, completely demolishing it.
Eradicator
grinned with the content under his mask as he walked on. "This
is just a
test of my powers!" he added. "Now let's really have some fun!"
Eradicator held out his hands and formed a huge electrical orb.
The grin
grew as he felt the power. He slammed the immense power
onto the
ground, and it flowed out erupting the surface around him.
Buildings
shook violently, people around him were tossed around like rag dolls.
"No one can defeat me!"
Nearby, a few feet in the air, space churned and began to distort.
It
blurred heavily, twitched, and ripped open, forming a void... a
vortex.
Eradicator looked up, his eyes trying to lock on to exactly what
he was
seeing. "What do we have here?" "A bird... no that can't be."
"A
plane... no, I don't think so." "It has to only be..."
Suddenly four figures flew from it one by one, depositing on the
ground
in front of him.
"You're not my arch nemesis." Bracing himself, one of the figure
named
Rembrandt looked up towards him. "Sorry to disappoint you."
Another of the figures named Mallory gave Eradicator a quick
stare as
the group got their bearings and climbed from the Earth.
"Aren't you a
little old for kiddy pajamas, bud?" he remarked.
Eradicator grew with anger, which made electricity spark from his
body.
"How dare you insult me!"
"I think we better get outta here!" another companion named Maggie
suggested, as the team collectively began to run.
Streams of electric current burst forth from Eradicator towards
the
Sliders as they ran into the near distance, nearly striking them.
"I am power personified!" Eradicator yelled. "I am Eradicator!"
"...And prepare to be eradicated!" a deep voice thundered nearby.
Eradicator looked in the direction if the voice, and gazed
at the image
of a man he had knew all too well. the individual was grabbed
in a
purple muscle suit, with a matching cape that fluttered in the breeze,
and a mask that partially covered his face with the same yellow
ocular
lenses. Standing like a statue, the man stood tall with his
chest thrown
out, and his hands curled in fists sitting on his hips.
"No need to fear dear citizens, for the Masked Marvel is here to
protect
you!"
"I've been waiting for you, Marvel!" Eradicator shouted discharging
a
huge burst of electricity in his direction. The Masked Marvel
dodged,
letting the current strike the ground and forma crater.
"Give it Up, old chum!" Masked Marvel took out small silver balls
from
under his cape and threw them at Eradicator. the metallic
objects
exploded on contact, blowing him back a few feet. Eradicator
quickly
recovered and began his next assault. He glowed intensely with
electricity, until his complete body was transformed into it.
Eradicator, in energy form, then zig zagged towards Marvel, exploding
into him. Marvel gave a deep holler. "I'm going to get
a charge outta
this!"
Nearby the four sliders hid behind a parked car, watching.
"He needs
help!" Remmy said.
"That guy's electricity, how do we fight that?" Maggie replied.
"I don't know\, but we have to do something." Mallory added turning
from
the car. The rest soon followed.
The foursome ran out towards the fight scene, all knowing not what
to
do, but knowing that something had to be done.
"Hey sparky!" Remmy yelled.
Eradicator transformed back into his human form, and glanced towards
the
group. "You imbeciles again!" Eradicator fired electrical
bolts; the
sliders barely dodged each one.
"Barney the Dinosaur better do something quick!" Maggie said pushing
Diana out of the way from a bolt.
Recovering from the sudden blow, Marvel reached under his cape once
more
and grabbed a strange gun which had hooks sticking out of the barrel.
He
pointed the gun into the air and fired. The hooks, attached
to a cord,
exploded from the barrel, locking onto the side of a building.
The cord
tightened and began to re track back into the chamber of the gun,
which
pulled Marvel up into the air. the hero then began to shift
his weight
and swung quickly through space.
"Eradicator... eradicate this!" Marvel shouted. Eradicator
looked
towards Marvel only to find his foot sticking out as he swung in
his
direction. In a split moment, Marvel fiercely kicked Eradicator
into the
gushing fire hydrant not far from the scene. Sparks of electricity
sporadically jumped from Eradicator as he yelled in defeat.
Water
drenched his body as the power drained from it. "I- will-
have- my
revenge!" he sputtered before he went unconscious from the shock.
"That you citizens for your help!" Masked Marvel said with a grin.
The sound of police sirens abruptly sliced through the air, growing
louder and louder as they came closer to the scene. Skidding
through the
destruction that Eradicator has caused, police cars screeched to
a halt
and officers ran from them quickly detaining the scene.
The fiend is over there, officers!" Marvel said pointing to the
limp
body of Eradicator.
"Thank you, Masked Marvel." one of the officers said as the other
officers ran over to arrest Eradicator. "I don't know what
we would've
done without you!"
"It was all in a days work." Masked Marvel said looking at the stunned
sliders.
"Do I know you?" he questioned. "You citizens look familiar."
"I don't think so, fella." Remmy replied.
"We're not from around here." Diana added.
Thinking for a moment, Marvel spoke. "Yeah, I do know you.
And if I am
correct, you're on your way to the Chandler."
"That's right." Mallory said surprised. "How'd you know?"
"Everyone knows you guys... come, I'll give you a lift." Marvel
took
out yet another device from beneath his cape, a small walkie talkie
device. "Battle van, key in on my location." he spoke into
it.
Without warning, a large van screeched from around the corner and
stopped within a few feet of the group. The doors automatically
opened.
"Hop on in." Marvel said. "...To the Chandler we go."
All five entered the lobby of the Chandler; however, it didn't look
like
the Chandler the sliders had known throughout their slides.
"Did any of you see the sign outside?" Mallory whispered to the
other as
Marvel led them through the very different Chandler.
"Yeah, it read the "Chandler Fortress", odd." Diana replied.
Inside, giant computers with bright flickering lights sat against
the
walls of what should have been the lobby. As each light flashed,
they
appeared to make beeping sounds. View screens also sat in various
parts
of the room, each showing carious scenes of costumed people ion
battle.
Marvel led them up a long stairway and into a large room that mirrored
the look of the lobby below. A long white haired man sat in
a leather
chair, staring at a computer screen, his back turned from the group.
"The Chandler looks a lot different." Maggie whispered to her
companions.
"What do you mean?" the man replied. The man's voice was all
too
familiar to Maggie, especially Remmy. He stood up, bracing
himself on a
cane, and turned towards the sliders. Remmy's face was hit
with shock as
his eyes locked with the strange man's eyes, which were gray, and
seemed
to look into the soul of who ever he was looking at.
"Professor." he murmured. That was the only thing he could
say.
"Don't be silly, Rembrandt." the man said. "You know as well
as I do
that the Professor is no more, there is only Arturo now."
Remmy suddenly realized that this man was not his professor,
not the
man he had come to know as family.
"Welcome to the Chandler Fortress, I have been expecting you."

Part Two
The Sliders contemplated their present situation. They were
in the
Chandler Hotel; however, it wasn't the Chandler they knew.
They stood in
the presence of a double of their or at least Remmy's beloved
Professor
Maximillain Arturo, who in addition, looked unlike any double of
his they
had met in there past slides.
“I found them on the street, Arturo.” Marvel explained.
“They were a
little
dazed.”
There was a brief pause, which was soon interrupted.
"I'm thankful you found them, Marvel." Arturo replied. "I was growing
restless."
“I'm glad that I could help you, sir, but if you don't mind, I now
have
to depart. There are wrongs that need to be righted.
My day never
ends!"
“I understand.” Arturo said as Marvel shot another grappling
line, and
swung out the window.
“Masked Marvel is a good lad, a dedicated citizen.”
“What’s with the Chandler?” Mallory asked.
“Why are you asking that question?!” Arturo snapped growing
frustrated.
“There is nothing wrong with the...?”
Suddenly one of the giant view screens that sat in the room flickered
on, and an image a female reporter, a person Remmy and Maggie also
knew,
appeared. She stood a few feet from a battle scene.
“Hello, I am Wade Wells for Channel 6 News. As you know the League
of
Justice has been monitoring the activities of super villain Dr.
Doomsday
throughout the
state of California. Time after time he has seem to allude
the super
team,
but now on live TV the League has found him and has just engaged
him
in battle, here in Los Angeles.”
Arturo quickly turned at looked sternly at the sliders.
In the distance, four figures dressed in various outfits, battled
a
figure who was grabbed in all black, with a long black cape.
The black
figure dodged the foursome's attacks by jetting into the air.
He seemed
to
wear what appeared to be rocket boots.
“We have you cornered, Doomsday!” one of the figures yelled at the
black
figure.
Doomsday answered the being by reaching for a gun and fired lasers
upon
the group.
“Who are you?!” Arturo demanded. “Answer me, who are you!”
Diana, looking back and forth between Arturo and the screen, was
the
first to speak, “Oh god.”
Arturo turned his attention back towards the screen. Abruptly,
Dr.
Doomsday pointed a small device towards the League and a void opened
sucking all four inside. It then quickly closed. He
then jetted off
into the distance.
“Oh no, the League has just disappeared!” Wade declared. “Dr.
Doomsday
has just captured the League of Justice!”
Arturo pushed a button on a nearby console and the screen went blank.
He
then turned and walked toward the Sliders.
“Imposters!” he proclaimed.
Remmy looked at his associates. “It’s true that we aren't
who you think
we are, whoever that is, Pro... Arturo.”
“Then who are you?!”
“It’s a long story.” Mallory said.
Knowing that the things they have seen on this world so far was
weird,
Diana decided to explain their weird tell.
“We're inter dimensional travelers. We are able to slide to various
universes using this device. When the numbers count down to
zero,
a vortex opens. On this world, we have two weeks until the
gateway
appears.” she explained showing Arturo the timer.
“You may think we are someone you know, because our doubles may
exists
on this world.” Maggie added.
“Incredible.” Arturo replied examining the timer. “You've
actually
found
a way to slide through dimensions.” “This was once my life’s
work.”
“What was that all about?!” Mallory inquired.
Arturo’s mind was suddenly drawn back to the matter at hand.
“Oh yes, yes, Dr. Doomsday, a treacherous man!” he said.
“We get the picture.” Maggie said.
“It looks as if he figured out how to slide.” Diana stated.
“Your doubles are stranded somewhere out there in the multi verse.”
Arturo spoke. “...The League of Justice. There is no telling what
evil
Doomsday has in store.”
"Wait a minute, you mean our doubles are super heroes?" Mallory
claimed.
“What kind of world has guys running around dressed up in Halloween
costumes?” Remmy remarked.
Arturo motioned them to sit, as he activated the view screen.
“It all
began in the late nineteen thirties, with the creation of a fictional
character known as Mighty Man.” An image of the character
soon flashed
on the screen. “The success of this character took hold of
society. He
always fought for good, protecting the innocent, a dedicated citizen
of
the world, dedicated to making this world the utopia it could be.”
“Some utopia with guys like Doomsday raising all hell.” Maggie
interrupted.
Arturo gave her a quick look. “Very soon, people began to actually
become super heroes like Mighty Man. They became so common
that the
government started funding super hero organizations and experiments
that
would give people superpowers.”
“That Eradicator guy must have been one of them.” Mallory interjected.
“Eradicator... yes, he is certainly a trouble maker. Some
of these
super humans decide that using their powers for the good of mankind
isn't
profitable so they begin to fight against good itself.”
“This is certainly going to be a weird slide.” Remmy said.
“Fascinating, an entire culture changed because of one fictional
character.” Diana said.
“...About as fascinating as watching paint dry.” Mallory claimed.
"And
as about as dumb."
“You have to help me.” Arturo pleaded. “With the League gone,
he will
be free to cause unspeakable evil, crime will also go unchecked.”
“Can't some other super hero handle this nut job?” Maggie said.
“No, most super heroes are too busy battling their own supervillians.”
“Wait... what are you trying to say, Arturo?” Remmy spoke.
“...That you
want us to take on the roles of our doubles? ...to be some
kind of
super heroes.”
“Although it would be cool, we're no heroes, even if we do save
each
others butts from time to time.” Mallory responded.
“It sounds dangerous,” Diana said.
“Yes Miss. Davis, but if you are anything like your doubles, you
will
accomplish this mission.”
“...And what exactly is that?” Maggie inquired.
“Objective, invade Dr. Doomsday’s stronghold, get a hold of his
sliding
equipment and free my League of Justice.”

Part Three
Over the last couple of days, the sliders settled into their doubles
chambers.
Diana entered, finding Arturo once again staring at the same computer
screen.
"Sorry to disturb you, but I wanted to discuss your companions'
dilemma."
"Very well, Miss Davis."
"I thought that I could use our timer to track Doomsday's wormhole;
however, by using your equipment, I have found that his slide signature
is completely different with the one our timer is able to track.
Different
worlds, different technologies, I assume."
"I thought the same; nevertheless, I kept my suspicions to myself,
knowing that you were thinking the equivalent."
"How'd you know that?"
Arturo paused. "I was once a scientist like yourself.
I devoted my
life to quantum
physics, and after years of research had found a way to travel between
universes,
like yourself, or at least I thought I had."
"What happened?"
"I had built a similar device which could open wormholes, but when
I
activated it, something went wrong. The vortex opened, and radiation
erupted from it.
My body was flooded with it. When I woke days later in the
hospital, I
found that I
was different, that I had gained abilities; I suppose you could
say
powers."
"What powers?"
Arturo's gray hypnotic eyes gazed into Diana's. "The accident
gave me
psychic abilities." The words entered Diana's mind,
as clearly as if
Arturo had spoken them physically.
Diana's eyes widened with amazement.
"As I told your Mr. Brown, the Professor, this world's Professor,
is
gone, only Arturo remains. I don't see it as anything wrong, I take
it as
a gift."
"Why didn't you read our minds to find out who we were when you
thought
that we were impostors?"
"I desire not to invade one's mind, Miss. Davis, for the mind is
man's
last realm of secrecy. If that is constantly invaded,
I fear that
oneday man shall go mad." Arturo explained.
"I assume you know what happened to Remmy's Professor Arturo."
"Although I said I desire not to read one's minds, I couldn't help
but
sense the tension in that man." he said solemnly. "That proud
decent man
has
experienced many loses, but he is too stubborn to show his
anger, his
sadness, and his fear of experiencing more lose.
My dear, please take
heart to what
I say; he needs the support of his companions now more than ever."
Maggie and the others soon entered, interrupting the conversation.
"So my good lads, have you decided what you are going to do?"
Arturo
asked.
The four sliders looked at one another, hesitantly.
"There's no telling what Doomsday could do with Sliding tech, he
could
be the next Gieger for all we know." Mallory said.
"Mallory's right, besides, we can't just let our doubles
stay out
there stranded somewhere in the universe." Maggie argued.
Rembrandt dithered then spoke. "Then it looks as if we're
in. I knew
that this was gonna be a crazy slide."
Dr. Doomsday sat concentrating at a computer console. Beside
it lay his
sliding device, a timer. A wire sat plugged into it, the other
end
connected to the computer itself. Grotesque monstrous creatures
surrounded him,
moaning and groaning,
staring off into space as if their minds were blank. They
appeared to be
in agony; although, no emotion entered their body's.
"Just as I thought." Doomsday said to himself, grinning under his
coal
black mask. The timer's readout has confirmed that the coordinates
I've
programmed into it have been activated, opening a vortex to a parallel
dimension of
my own choice."
Doomsday notices the creatures looking in wonderment at him.
"You vile
beasts don't understand a word I'm saying, but it's no matter, the
inter
dimensional
relocation device has worked, and the League of Justice is finally
out of
my way!" He turns his attention to a quite large complicated
looking
device across the room. "I'll need to secure one
more component for you, my dear, and then no super hero can stop
my
wrath!"
Back at the Chandler, Arturo waited as the Sliders waveringly stepped
forth from the shadows. At first his face didn't show any
emotion as the
light slowly illuminated the four companions, but then his lips
formed a
small
grin.
"The resemblance is uncanny!" Arturo said amazed.
"This is ridiculous." Maggie spoke.
Remmy stared at his associates, and a cackling laugh shattered the
atmosphere.
"Y'all need to look at yourselves!"
"Don't be a wise guy, Remmy." Mallory replied.
Before Arturo stood the Sliders, clothed in various super hero outfits,
once worn by their doubles. Rembrandt donned a spandex mainly
blue,
yellow, and white suit, with a large strap wrapped around his chest
and
back. Mallory wore a uniform of the same material; however,
his was red
and black. Red
diamond shapes lay across his upper body, and the boots he wore
were
sleek. In addition, Maggie sported a tight military camouflaged
colored
muscle shirt, with a pair of small tight dark green spandex shorts.
She
also wore a large metallic belt which held many small compartments,
and a
large pair of black military boots. Diana bore a spandex
one piece
purple swim suit type outfit with lavender colored tights as well.
The
boots she wore came up to her knees, and the heels were long.
"I don't think I can go out in public looking like this." Diana
said.
"We'll need super ego powers to do that." Maggie answered.
"It says
something about our doubles, Diana, if they wear such revealing
outfits,
then again, it says something about us."
"You're doubles are decent determined citizens, War-Witch." Arturo
said.
"What did you call me?"
"WarWitch?" Diana said breaking out in a laugh.
"That is the name of your superior persona, Miss Beckett." Arturo
retorted. "You all have super hero names, you certainly can't
be a super
hero without one, now can you. You, Mr. Brown, are Shockwave.
Leader of
the League of Justice, able to harness the power of sound."
"Shockwave... I like the sound of that... everyone know's I have
a
voice, but how the devil am I suppose to use sound as a weapon?"
"Just sing Remmy, the evil doers will flee in torment." Maggie joked.
"Funny, Maggie."
"You and Miss Beckett will find your designated weapons out front,
in
the Battle Crusier." Arturo explained.
"I like the sound of that also, we get our own flashy super hero
car.
Maybe this won't be such a bad slide after all."
Arturo turned to a console and pushed various buttons. A small
storage
space was revealed nearby. He went over and took out its components
and
walked back towards the sliders.
"Mallory, my boy, you are Duplicate Devil, able to create exact
duplicates of yourself and use them at your will."
He handed him a circular mechanical device.
"By scanning your mind, this mechanical headdress, can create
holographic
doubles of yourself, just as effective in battle than you would
be."
"You, my dear Miss Davis, are Mastermind, a being able to move anything
with her mind. This headdress, as well, scans your mind, manipulating
your
brainwaves to control the environment around..." Suddenly,
a irritating
alarm rang throughout the Chandler, and red lights began flashing.
"What's wrong?" Mallory said.
Arturo went to a console and activated a view screen. An image
of a map
flashed on screen, and a red dot pin pointed a certain area on it.
"There's been a disturbance in the League's sector of San Francisco."
Arturo stated. "The location's Bennish Laboratory Facility;
it could be
Doomsday. He is a scientist and frequently operates in that
sector. Be
quite aware of Doomsday's genetically engineered creatures, they're
mindless zombies, but can be dangerous."
"Let's rock!" Mallory protested.
Dr. Doomsday lead a small squad of his monstrous creations through
the
dark labyrinth which was Bennish Labs. All that ran through
his mind,
was
completing his plan. "The apparatus should be located in the
secure area
of the
complex." The group made their way around various corners,
and along
long stretching corridors. "Scatter out you mongrels!
I want to make
sure that this laboratory is fastened. I don't want any do gooders
to
thwart me this time, not when I am this close!"
With a wave of his
hand, and the handing out of a stern vicious look, the creatures
dispersed throughout several regions of the building, leaving Doomsday
to
himself.
The Battle Crusier, a sleek sliver luminous van, sped along
the dark
abandoned streets, or what the occupants assumed to be abandoned
until
the vehicle unexpectedly blurred past a police cruiser.
"We just past a cop, going about 50!" Remmy acknowledged, sitting
behind
the wheels and examining various controls, trying to make himself
in tune
with the vehicle.
Mallory casually gazed into the rear view mirror, and shrugged.
"I
don't think it's much of a problem, Remmy. That cop just got out
of his
car and gave us two thumbs up with a huge grin smeared on his face."
"Our doubles really must be something on this world." Maggie said.
"What a way to get out of a speeding ticket!" Remmy added with a
smile.
A figure straddled through one of the many empty corridors. The
"shrug,
shrug, shrugging" sound it made, as it seemed to drag it itself
along,
alerted the attention of a lone security guard nearby.
"Who's there?!" she said pointing a flash light in the direction
of the
noise. All of the sudden, the irritating sound terminated.
The guard
walked ever so cautiously around the corner, again her flashlight
searched for the source of the noise. The beam of light crept
sluggishly
along the hallway, until finally it struck a figure a few feet away.
The
guard recognized it as person, or what she thought to be a person.
"What
are you doing here?" she inquired.
The figure gave a muffled wail; it's eyes suddenly caught the light,
like a cat's eyes would, and turned a brilliant bloody red.
The guard
shrieked in horror, as she saw the monstrous face of the intruder,
but it
was suddenly quieted as the creature vaulted upon her and quickly
tore
her apart.
Doomsday paused as he heard a faint cry, but quickly ignored it
as he
continued his way through the laboratory.
The Battle Crusier halted in front of Bennish Labs, and the Sliders
sprung out. Maggie and Remmy walked around to the back of the automobile,
opened it's rear doors, and got retrieved their various weapons.
Rembrandt armed himself with a colossal cannon and threw it over
his
back, collaring it onto hooks that sat on the sash he wore.
Maggie
equipped herself with two laser rifles, each hung on opposite shoulders
hanging by straps. Finding the entrance blown out, the sliders
rushed
in, extremely aware. They carefully tip-toed around the rubble,
trying
not to gain the attention of the intruders.
"Maybe we should split up." Mallory suggested.
"Bad idea, we're a team, besides we don't know what we're up against."
Maggie replied.
"Mag's right, we face this together." Remmy said.
They lurked through the dim silent halls of the Lab, their
eyes hunting
for anything unusual.
"Was Arturo sure about that disturbance?" Diana questioned.
"Obviously yes, Diana." Mallory interjected. "How'd you explain
the
entry way being blown way out ."
"Maybe whoever came left..."
Abruptly, the same "shrug shrug" noise broke the conversation.
"What were you about to say?" Maggie said as she and Remmy led them
towards the noise. Unexpectedly, they were face to face with
a band of
about fifteen monstrous creatures.
"What in the hell, are those ugly suckas?!" Remmy said shocked.
Before anyone could answer the creatures lunged forth, attacking.
Remmy
handed out a devastating blow towards one the monsters, as Maggie
took
the butt of one of the rifles and flailed another. Two of
the freaks
surrounded Diana, she grew more frightened as they slowly closed
in on
her. Mallory tackled of the monstrosities, but quickly climbed himself
back to his feet, turning to see the Diana's perilous situation.
Almost
instinctively the lights of the small mechanical headdress started
flashing, and two Mallory duplicates appeared at each side.
The Mallorys
rushed the creatures, hastily subduing them.
"They're everywhere!" Remmy yelled fending off three more of the
creatures.
Maggie wrapped her fingers around the rifles' triggers, an began
spraying the crowd with red lasers. Her face grew with content
as , one
by one, each monster around fell. Before the sense of chaos
settle, the
sliders, immediately left the scene.
"Secure Area, Authorized Personal Only!" was inscribed on a on a
sign,
which was posted on a door. Dr. Doomsday shrugged, and took
out a small
laser gun from beneath his cape, pointed it towards the door, and
fired.
The door exploded from its hinges. He walked into the room,
which was
dimly lit; his eyes hunting for the object he had come to retrieve.
Under his mask, an evil looked flashed onto his face, accompanied
by a
smile, as his eyes locked onto the mechanism.
The sliders made their way through various corridors, briskly depositing
any freak that attacked, and soon discovered the blown out doorway.
"Whatever is here, Doomsday wants it bad!" Mallory said as they
rapidly
fled in.
Doomsday quickly caught a glimpse of the four as he quickly activated
a
vortex, and slid in.
"Doomsday!" Maggie said firing off lasers into the void.
"Why isn't the vortex closing!?" Mallory noticed.
"We've got to hurry!" Diana said with a frustrating looked on her
face.
"I'm holding the vortex open with my powers! I can't hold out much
longer! Go!"
Maggie, followed by Remmy entered the portal, who was soon ensued
by
Mallory who carried a strained Diana through. The vortex suddenly
collapsed in on itself, and closed.
The vortex burst opened in Dr. Doomsday's stronghold, and he suddenly
flew from it. "The League of Justice?" he thought as he climbed
up.
"How did they re enter this universe. The have no sliding
tech..."
Suddenly the four sliders were flung from the void as well.
"The League?!" Doomsday shouted angrily mixed with curiosity, and
running over to his device.
The four made their way up, only meeting sudden fire from Doomsday.
Remmy grabbed hold of his cannon and swung towards him, preparing
to
fire. "Try this on for size!" he said pulling the trigger.
Beginning
at the end of the barrel, space distorted in a thunderous noise,
which
almost knocked the group to their knees. Doomsday dodged the
blast, and
it hit the wall, shaking the entire room.
"Damn, League!" Doomsday snarled getting his balance and reaching
for
the device he had stolen from the laboratory. He began to
punched at
various keys on the larger device in front of him, which opened
a small
storage compartment. Doomsday shoved the device into the area,
and the
machine beeped in agreement.
The Sliders rushed over to Doomsday, but suddenly pointed
his laser gun
in their direction. Maggie and Remmy quickly met his weapon
with their
own. The group stared at one another sternly.
“Drop your weapon, man, or this thing’ll blast you on that wall
like
you’re a bug on a windshield.” Remmy said.
“I don’t think so, Shockwave!” Doomsday retorted. “I’m the
one who will
be giving the orders.”
In that instant, Maggie and Remmy recognized Doomsday’s voice, but
couldn’t match a face to it.
Doomsday began to activate the large device. “Before you’re
destroyed,
you do have to tell me how you re entered our wonderful universe!”
Suddenly, a giant vortex erupted from the machine in an explosion.
Doomsday suddenly turned to face the sight; however, still pointing
the
weapon. “Beautiful, isn’t it?”
“What exactly do you plan to do, Doomsday?” Maggie asked.
“World domination on a universal scale, my lovely, War Witch.
Or should
I say Muti universal scale!”
“Not again.” Diana said. “He’s going to merge the multiuverse
with that
machine.”
“He must’ve taken lessons in inter dimensional high jinx from our
dear
Dr. Gieger.” Mallory voiced.
“Since there are an infinite number of universes, it would be impossible
to rule them all one by one, so I’ve devised this clever device,
to merge
the universes into one, and then I will rule them personally, although,
I needed to “borrow” the Electro Magnetic Dialation Excelerator
chip, to
make this thing able to generate an immense burst of electormagnetic
energy into the multi universe. Behold, my Interdimensional
Relocation
Merging Unit!
“Talk about a crazy slide, this fool is crazy himself!” Remmy said.
“You’re the fool, League, for interfering with my plans, and now
you
must pay!”
Just before Doomsday began to fire, Diana used her telekinetic powers,
and knocked the laser gun from his hands. Remmy instantaneously
leapt on
him, while Diana and Maggie went over to the device.
“Can you shut it off?” Maggie asked.
“Yeah, that’s not a problem.” Diana replied, pushing several keys
on the
device. The vortex soon closed with the same loud blare.
“NO!!” Doomsday shrieked.
Diana looked around for Doomsday’s timer, but only saw several pieces
of
it scattered about.
“It appears that he has assimilated his timer’s technology into
the IRM
unit, ” she said continuing to push at several keys, and then casually
gazing at its small view screen. A long list of various numbers
scrolled
upon the device’s screen, until a certain pair locked into place.
“I’ve
found the coordinates to the universe he sent our doubles to.”
“Let’s get this slide over with then,” Maggie said.
Rapidly, a vortex opened near where Remmy, Mallory, and Doomsday
were
battling. Doomsday kicked Mallory, swung around and granted Remmy
with a
hard blow to the face. Remmy responded by striking Doomsday
in the gut,
and then returning the blow to the face. Mallory quickly regain
strength, and leapt towards Doomsday, who quickly lifted his leg
and
activated his jet boot. The ignition blasted Mallory across
the room.
Four figures, identical to the sliders were thrown from the vortex,
and
it quickly closed.
“What happened?” the Maggie dopplerganger said.
Doomsday pulled out another small laser gun from beneath his cape
and
began firing on Remmy, who dodged the blasts. The lasers flew
in every
direction, and unexpectedly struck the large device itself.
Yet another vortex opened near the fight scene; however, it seemed
to
fade in and out of vision.
“What’s wrong?” Maggie cried.
“I don’t know.” Diana answered. “The device is damaged;
it looks like
its low on power!”
Remmy ran through various lasers and leapt at Doomsday, near the
strange
vortex. The two men were locked in attack, until the vortex pull
grew,
tugging away at Doomsday’s mask.
Rembrandt lessened his grip for a split moment, shocked to see who
Doomsday really was. Images of a single bullet slowly
speeding in his
companions direction entered his mind, visions of the bullet penetrating
the heart of his dear friend as well, ended by the face of the murderer
who fired that bullet.
“Rickman.” Remmy yelled wrapping his hands around Doomsday’s throat.
“You murdering son of a bitch!” Doomsday’s eyes locked Remmy’s.
“Get away from that vortex, Rem!” Maggie shouted.
“The power is too unstable, get back now!” Diana added.
Mallory woke in a daze, and lifted his head, only to find Rembrandt
in
arms with an unmasked Doomsday. Images of the same scenes
entered
Mallory’s mind as well.
“Rickman?” he muttered.
Rembrandt’s mind was unanticipatedly drawn back to reality, and
he heard
the sudden shouting of Diana and Maggie.
“Go to hell!” he said letting go of Doomsday, who suddenly
fell into
the void, which closed soon after.
“Where’d that vortex lead?” Maggie said.
“I assume nowhere, literally.” Diana said. “The vortex’s power
was
drained when Doomsday’s laser gun damaged it. He is probably stranded
in
limbo; although, he probably wouldn’t be there long, since I assume
he
had another timer.”
“Why’d you say that?”
“How else could he have slid back to his stronghold, when the other
timer is laying here in pieces.”
Mallory walked over to Rembrandt.
“That was pretty hard, heh Remmy?” Mallory said.
“Yeah, I thought I lost control for a while. Actually, I did, but
I had
to find my way back.”
Their dopplegangers stood by in awe as the sliders collected themselves
and walked away.
“...For myself, and for you guys.”
“In times like these, it’s wonderful that we have heroes among us.”
