Guest Stars: Jennifer Lien as Janine, and Douglas Emerson as Roger.

Synopsis: A house is in a blaze of fire, people are running out, screaming, Cory is seen inside the house, and as he is about to leave, he hears a woman's cry for help. Cory runs over to her, inside the room, but a piece of wood flies down in front of him, which blocks his passage. He manages to get around the obsticle, helping the woman up, near a window. Cory picks her up after she faints, but with flames heading towards them, he has no choice, but to jump out the window, breaking the glass. They both fall down a hill, but a paramedic arrives, checking them both. Cory gets up, and helping with putting the woman in the back of the ambulance. Nick, Allison and Remmy show up near Cory, he tells the paramedics hes a doctor, and wants to ride to the hospital with her. The doors close, and the other 3 sliders are surprised of what they just found out about Cory's background.

At the hospital, Remmy shows up to find Cory in the waiting room. He asks why he is still here, and Cory tells Remmy that he should be here when the woman wakes, so she can talk to him. Remmy tells him that the others are back at the hotel, a few blocks away, and just plan to meet them there, when hes ready, by telling him the room number, then Remmy exits. The woman's parents arrive, and as they are asking questions, at the front desk, Cory heads for them, and tells them what he knows. They are relieved of what they know, and plan to stay here until they are told the news of whats to happen, with the woman, named Janine Kirpath. Mr. Kirpath asks Cory, what he is to his daughter, and Cory just says he is the man the saved her.

The following morning, a nurse walks in, to wake the parents, then Cory. The 3 head down to the room, to find Janine bandaged on the face/neck area and arms. Janine sees them, and wants them to enter. Janine is happy to see her parents, then Cory explains he was the one that saved her, and she knows that, as she thanks him.

Back at the hotel, Allison tells Nick and Remmy that she can get to work on the equation for the virus, while trying to figure out the solution. Allison tells them to take a walk, since she needs time to use the computer, that is part of the room, to distinguish all of the elements for the formula. Cory finally arrives, and he tells the others he plans to take a shower, and return to the hospital. Nick asks why hes so involved with the woman, and Cory explains that on his world, a situation like this happened, and he fell in love with a woman he saved, by trying to help her through therapy, but then her husband arrived, forcing Cory out of the picture. Remmy finishes Cory's thought, by saying that Cory wants to force his life back in the woman's life, to possibly start a romance, and Cory agrees, somewhat to what he said. Nick tells Cory that they slide out in a week, so he really should push the relationship with Janine.

After a couple of days have passed, Cory met up with Janine at the hospital, to help her get to a room at the Chandler, since she was only staying in the state a few weeks until her dance club was going to head back to Minnesota. When the 2 arrived to her room, Cory agrees to help with the bandages, but Janine begins to cry, sitting on the bed, since she feels horrible of what has happened. Cory tries to calm her down, giving a tissue to her. They finally make it to the bathroom, and Cory starts to take off the bandages, when he sees the damage she is in. She tells him if he wants to leave, he can, but Cory states that he was a doctor and has seen this stuff before. The bandages get changed, Janine thanks Cory, then asks if he would like to go out for a day of fun the next day, he agrees.

The 2 had an enjoyable week together, they visited the park and zoo, enjoyed a boat ride under the Golden Gate Bridge, had fun at a fair that was being held, and Cory won a stuffed animal for Janine, and walked almost everywhere in the city, and during a ride on the rail cars, they kiss, but Janine apoligizes for it, while Cory doesn't mind it. And on the final note, Janine was obviously introduced to the others.

Over the week, Allison had headed to a laboratory on the UCLA campus, since she had less that great success of cracking the code. She talked to a professor in science, to figure the solution to her question. He asked what it is for, and she goes between the lines, saying that her question is for an experiment that could lead to success, teh professor agrees, to take a look at it, and would try to finish in the next few days.

The day before the slide, Allison heads over for coffee in the campus coffee shop as she has been doing the whole week. As Allison sits down, she recognizes Janine, sitting with some friends, chatting, she sees a guy come up to her, kissing her on the lips, Allison is not surprised to see her with another man, and she knows that Cory will be heart broken.

Nick and Remmy are at the pool, when Allison arrives, she tells them the bad news, and Nick tells her, Cory will probably get over it somehow. Allison also states, the formula may be finished by tomorrow, so she plans to get it from the professor, working on it. Remmy then jumps off the high board, splashing into the water, getting both Allison and Nick wet.

That night, Cory is getting dressed for a dinner date, that Janine set up to thank him for everything hes done for her. When he needs help putting on a tie, Nick helps him. Cory is somewhat nervous of this date, but Nick tells him to keep an open mind, since she may have a boyfriend, then Cory says that if she had a boyfriend, he isn't that good, since he didn't show up at the hospital. A knock at the door is heard, so Remmy opens it, to reveal Janine. She enters the room, awaiting cory to come, while the others sit around trying not to say anything stupid, Nick asks if she was keeping a secret from Cory, but she didn't know what he was talking about, so Nick kept drilling her, finally Allison hits Nick on the shoulder, referring to him to shut up. Cory finally enters the room, and the 2 head out.

They take a taxi, to a fancy restuarant, where they sit outside on the patio. Cory begins to explain he has the leave the next afternoon, and was glad to have met such a beautiful woman. Janine blushes, then Roger, her boyfriend appears, which leads them to a kiss. Roger introduces himself to Cory, then he has a seat. Janine asks Cory if its ok to have him stay, and Cory doesn't mind it, but begins to get angry for another man to be in the way. They finally order, and Roger begins to asks Cory about what he does, Cory talks about his medical history, and Roger just nods along, then as music plays, Roger asks Janine to dance, she looks to Cory, then Roger tells her, he doesn't mind. Cory gets up from his seat, then punches Roger in the face, then knocking the table over. Roger backs off, they start fighting. Suddenly, waiters arrive, to pull them apart, but not before Cory hits Roger, knocking him down, with a bloody nose. Janine is shocked, and heads over to Roger, she looks to Cory, whos looking back, then runs off.

In the darkness, on the beach, as the water comes in, Cory is sitting in the sand, without his shoes or socks, Remmy appears, sitting next to him. He states he got a message from Janine, saying you went off on them, then Cory says he felt interrupted with Roger being there. Cory begins to tear up, saying he couldn't be with her, when she died. Remmy is confused, then Cory goes into a story, that her girlfriend was talking to him on the phone, on a plane, and as he proposed, she nevered answered, since the plane crashed and exploded, killing all on board, but when he found her body, she had her hand collasped in the hand of another man, and also learned that the 2 were making out, when an airport showed a video of his girl, kissing another man, figuring she was going to tell him it was over. Remmy puts his arm around Cory's shoulder, and calming him down, from crying so much.

The next morning, Allison had headed over to the university, while Cory decided to possibly bring Janine along, then tell the others, that he couldn't live without her. He knocks on Janine's room, she answers. She is relieved to see him, since she thought something bad had happened to him. Cory and Janine sit down on the bed, Cory explains he felt terrible for what he did, but had fallen for Janine, so he thought things could get going in a serious relationship. Janine thought it was sweet, but as Cory knew, she had a boyfriend. Cory begins his question about her coming, when Roger exits the shower in a towel. Roger apologizes, then Cory apolgizes for what he did. They shook on it, and Roger accepted. Janine asks Cory what he had wanted to say, and he told her, just to be forgiven, which she already agreed to. Cory hugs Janine, and she thanks him for the help he did during the fire, and struggle through the hard time, since Roger was out of town during the incident. Cory then exits, shutting the door, returning to the room.

With 2 minutes before the slide, Allison arrives, Nick comments that she almost got stuck on this world forever. Allison told the guys, the good news, the formula was cracked opened, it can be created by a smart scientist, since it wasn't her expertese. Remmy smiles, and hopes to find a scientist, within the next few worlds, to get a virus made, to save his world. Remmy opens the vortex, then all 4 enter, the portal closes shortly after.
